Health check-up in Zurich — what makes sense and what doesn't

A check-up is not a checklist. A good check-up considers your age, sex, family history, and individual risk factors. What makes sense for a 30-year-old differs significantly from what a 55-year-old needs.

What our check-up includes

We start with a thorough medical history — your personal and family background forms the basis. Then comes the physical examination: blood pressure, pulse, heart and lung auscultation, abdomen, thyroid. Lab work includes full blood count, liver and kidney values, lipid panel, thyroid (TSH), blood glucose (HbA1c), vitamin D, ferritin, and inflammatory markers.

Risk-adapted diagnostics

Not everyone needs every test. For family history of cardiovascular disease, we add lipoprotein(a) and hs-CRP. For fatigue or hair loss, we target iron, B12, and thyroid. For men over 50, PSA is discussed individually — not routinely.

Check-up and insurance

Basic insurance covers individual lab values when medically indicated. A comprehensive check-up without symptoms is often covered by supplementary insurance. We provide transparent cost information before any investigation.

How often should you get a check-up?

As a rule of thumb: from 30 every 3 years, from 40 every 2 years, from 50 annually — more often with risk factors. More on our check-up page and in Check-up over 40.
